As a journalist, I observe and listen and ask lots of questions. Then I write. I believe that a good article gives the reader new insights and breaking thoughts, and sometimes an experience.  I do not believe that I am the center of the story (except when caught in the vortex of a tornado). I have covered international news, science, adventure, culture and sports.  My print publications include the New York Times, Discover magazine and regional dailies.
